Glossary of unusual terms no. 1

Template - when it should be warmer than it is by now

The call of the wild

They say that time's a healer
And that you will walk in liberty
But I know I cannot hear ya
quite so perfectly

As I wallow in the swamps
And the lowlands of the free
The high hills and the humps
Show me the way to the sea

Oh why can't you hold your horses
Or rein in the deer from the field
I'll be with you down river courses
You will hear the call of the wild

So perfectly

So perfectly

Each Salmon swims up river
Back to the place they were born
Well I was born in that small town
Where the wind blows over the corn

And I hear my name called aloud
I can hear the mission bells
For all those fighting in the sounds
Like an echo down distant well

And I come back like an animal
All instinct, imperfectly
Don't go home like a child
When you hear the call of the wild

So perfectly

So perfectly

Romeo at stake

Re-write Romeo and Juliet set in Coronavirus times

What would you say to Romeo if he asked you to go out
When you were on your balcony
But you couldn't go, you had to shout:

Romeo, Romeo where is your mask?

-I sold it, I forgot it, oh why do you ask?

Well I would never kiss a one such as you
Who might give me the plague
With his tongue turned blue

-Oh don't be silly child
This plague is but a trifle
Just a little cold, nothing to stifle
Our love affair of two hearts such as ours
Which are lions of passion and Art writ large

Now I don't want to be the first one to call
For tolerance and temperance
But the writing's on the wall
You should not even be out on the streets this late
Its way past the curfew nevermind love nor hate

-Oh my lady of largess, who commands my heart
Set my fleets rolling, you know they do start
And now you wish to turn them away
At your window bay, let them in your harbour
My good seamen will pay

I like not the cut of your jib, you fib, good sir
You fib, yes you fib, fib, fib
You would say you love me for my heart
But what you really want is my money
Oh you men are all alike
Show you a stocking and you come over all funny

I need to know

I need to know if you love me
I need to know if you care
I need to know if your doves are free
To fly off into the air

I need to know if you use me
I need to know if you dare
I need to know if you colour me
Like you dye your very own hair

I need to know how many there are
I need to know the score
I need to count a penny a car
For every time that you walk out the door

I need to know the margin
I need to know your line
In need to know I'm not arguin'
Wasting each other's time

I need to know the truth
I need to know the lie
I need to be given some proof
And it has got to fly

I need to know the cut to make
Before I hold the knife
I need to know if it is a mistake
To stop the blood to this life

I need to know the blade
I need to know the other side
I need to know how you made
Your very own paradise

I need to feel the weight
I need you to give me the price
Of all the things that hang on the fate
Of this our sacrifice

I need to know the letter
I need to know the law
I need to know you better
Much better than before

I need to know the business
I need to know the rhyme
I need to know if its kismet
Or if it is the century's greatest crime

I need to know your intentions
Before I reveal you mine
I need to know your contention
Then I can be content to follow your line

Let's put our heads together

Let's put our heads together you and I
We can work it out if we really try
We get to be the detectives, we can be the spies

Two heads are better than one
If you can see it running then I can see it run
You take the steering wheel, I'll put the brakes on
No one can hurt us, we are going, going gone
Let's put our heads together you and I

I wish I could say just how it will turn out
You are right from your side, I am right from mine
The biggest of our problems comes from where we draw the line
Let's put our heads together you and I

I've seen the sun through a looking glass
You've been looking through the rain
I've leant my weight on green, green grass
And its left on you a stain
I think that we can make it, I think we can regain
of the river that has passed, and cross it just the same
Let's put our heads together you and I

Ode to an invisible duck

O duck where art thou
Thou nimble winged beastie
Art thou hiding in the undergrowth
Or flown for a feastie?
What does it mean
All this natural desire?

Oh invisible duck I see no more your power
I hear no more you
Pronounce quack
As if passing judgement
Upon all that runs off your back
Or softly preening
Like a princess screening
Herself for an unveiling
At a debutants ball
Oh where are you? You April fool?

Sway

He used her up
Drank her cup
Now she’s a dried up vessel
One vein too blue
One more cell to chew
He ate her brain, who knew

But now she is free
And he, he
He is the Zombie father
The step in the grain
That makes the plane
Jump when we shave the wood farther

He, he is the bitter root
Of rivalry
That keeps the bitter lemon tree
Growing
That leaves all grandmothers
Sucking lemons
Selling eggs and bacons
That leaves the chickens in the gardens
And the cold wind that hardens
The apples that sway
She sees them like she did
When she was a child
And he is her father who has broken his promises
And let the butterflies out of her enclosure
Like kissing lips
They part and fly away

Knocking off early, kicking off late

Knocking off early, kicking off late
Man’s work kind of girly, standing at the pearly gates
Its not as if I’m nearly laying in state
But knocking off early, kicking off late

Just a drop of your liquor will keep me up to date
With the loving times of late
I’ve missed it in the newspapers
Reading about the muse
Who’s always accused of starting a spate
She’s been killing her lovers
With bows and arrows
Letting fly near the fire
They’ve been falling from the sky
Dropping like flies
Like Icarus they couldn’t get any higher

Oh just give me a drop of your sweet honey nectar
Just enough for a bee
Don’t worry my flower, I ain’t gonna sting yer
Least not anyway now
Oh knocking off early and kicking off late
Clocking in the tower out of date
Its way past the hour, I should have lost this power
But Cinderella she is dancing so great

The workers in the road
Are lifting man covers
They are pulling up lovers
From the drains
They’re shifting the stones
And covering old bones
Of contention and of hate
Well they’re burying the hatchet
And letting the hammer fall
They’re keeping me awake with the drilling in the wall
But you have to watch it
In case they make a mistake
And Open up the gate
Knocking off early, and kicking off late
I’m trying to find the pearly gate
Seeing its nearly time to make the call
To St Peter before its too late

Could it be

Could it be that you were just sleeping?
Could it be that you were at prayer
Well I didn't know I was heaping
Upon you my own despair

Could it be that you were hoping
That I would come rescue you there?
Could it have been that I had not seen you weeping
Into the colours of your hair?

Could it have been the darkness seeping
Through the pores of your skin
Could it have been the night was keeping
Its treasures you had hidden within

Could it be that I lay waiting
Like a poacher for in wait by his snare
Could it be that you came stepping in
And layed all my plans bare

Unknown

Oh you don't know where you are going
And you don't know where you've been
And its just like its been snowing
And now the path's unseen
But you must take the first step
Yes you must take the leap
Into the dark of journey unknowing
Quite how it will turn out in the end

Just hold tight to your marbles
Yes hold onto your hat

Silver moon dust of days

What is an island?
An island is a man
Who has isolated himself

The dogs are out late tonight
The dogs are crying mercy
Mercy on the moon
The moon is crying mercury
In the fluids of its doom
For once the dogs
They ran up there
Once when they were wolves
And the moon is crying for the horses
Locked inside their stalls

What is an island?
An island is a city
Full of archipelagoes of people
It is this cursing
Blackness in the heart
Of the Cathedral

It is the bells which toll
At stake but for the one
Who burns in the immediacy
Like a fire in the sun

Who are the children
When their parents have gone
Trodden into dust
What can be left
Of someone
What remnant is there
What part is left?
What makes us human
What gives us dignity
What of our faculties which are bereft
Deny a person freedom
Where does their personhood begin and end
What is the limit of government
Where is the privacy
Where is the public friend
Who can give us liberty
When nothing comes
And nothing ends

Disuasion

Whirlpool of damage
Maelstrom of dispair
Throw me to the wolves
Let me be eaten by bears
I come to you with my ashes
And you throw them in my hair
Oh Maelstrom of damage
Whirlpool of wear

Disuade me, disuasion
The whole plagued crew
Have been running the carnival for years
But The red top's turning blue
And all the circus acrobats
On the trapeze of disease
Are swinging back and forth like bats
Like pendulums in trees
Like some Orang Utan
Has been let out its cage
And now its roaming free
Oh disuade, disuasion
Disuade me

12 years a wave

I am 12 years a wave
12 years a wave
12 years a wave waving at you
You know I 've been a rolling
12 years on an ocean blue
No never breaking
Onto somebody new
I have never crashed,
Never reached my everest peak
Never crest up with the best
Stayed down with the meek
The strong ones they are dying
Waves upon the shore
The tide just pulls them back
But they keep going back for more

But I stay out in the ocean
Avoiding all commotion
noone can bother me
Oh life is swell
There's a current towing me under
In a motion
I'm swallowed up in a Tsunami of regret
Like the earth did shudder
The epicentre of a rudder
We are all gravitating to the self same fate

12 years a wave flowing out on the ocean
Reefs and knots are tying me
To the the rocky bottom
Anchoring all my dreams
With the fishes on the tide

Pave the stones

Well you said that you were with me in the garden
And you said that you would be with me in the end
Well its more than schaden freuden
If I say now farewell my friend

You know that I've always thought you were peculiar
Like an a letter I cannot send
The writings done, the message has hardened
But For me this is the end my friend

We each have our stepping stones to follow
Through the garden of this paradise
You are lucky if they are large enough to land on
And luckier still if you don't fall off them
Over the side

Giraffes

All through-out the Eden times
The dog's bear their teeth
And laugh
At the pearly flowers
Of the telegraph
And curtail, the male giraffes
Into thinking themselves tall
When all loves like the towers
Have their times to fall

She told me only somethings
But I meant nothing at all
Only words that were bowstrings
On which her arrows were drawn
And passion is just a time that sings
Of a love and life enthrall
we must follow in our hearts
That line when love does call

The Advice of Chaucer

She was reeling from a fight
From a love who she'd left behind
Her bed was like a ship
That rocked across the sea

I'm eating fishes
And the bacteria
Of the wishes
That I can't control

I cry for you
I cry to the lord

I'm in a fight for my life
I've seen the early morning light
And the night cut like a knife
Through the barrels of my soul

I have a kidney of consequence
Which filters all my dreams
And empties my utopias
Into someone else's streams

And the firebrands are scoffing
At the girls without their souls
Knowing that they'll be coughin
In some fiery hell holes

And temptation takes me
Like seal that is slipped
Like a knife beneath the shoulder blades
Or a hole in the hull of my ship

There's a leak in my consciousness
Where salvation drips
Either I will drown in self-confidence
Or be buried inside some skips

Don't ask me for my blessing
You must go and choose your own way
Just be careful to avoid the ones who lose
And never work for those who don't pay

To the tune of Cleopatre's needle

I get up in the morning
The fish are still yawning
In the wild sea's coast
Far from the warning
That you felt it was burning
That I loved you the most

You never gave me your name
You gave me many things
That I called a shame
But you never did give me your name

So I can't remember now what you said to me
I can't recall what you thought or thanked
But maybe you were a Romanian
Maybe you were a Bulgarian
Maybe you held a glass in your hand
Well it was easier for me if you name it
Easier if you blame it
All on me

But you never gave me your name did you
So I guess that She will have to do

Masterthief

I had a dream that
You were with me and
The sand was a roaring beast
We were in
A desert land and
The sunlight never did cease

I stood up to great a mare
And
Check it over, checked her teeth
They were square and
Something there and
Some diamonds buried beneath

Well someday its all gonna be different
When I feel the weight of a leaf
Well every thing must fall
into the hands of the masterthief

The tourbus and the curtain closes
The firetrucks spray water hoses
I need to duck to sniff roses
While above me fly wild geese

There are two thoughts that keep
Coming to get me
The first is one of belief
The second is who is this Moses
Who tries to give me some relief

One day this is all gonna look different
I will steal enough to save our grief
Don't take me at my word
But just blame the masterthief

It should have been different but somebody stole it
They roll it in their mind like a grief
But next time my guards will patrol it
But they will never catch the masterthief

The statue is so deadly

Statue, statue Statue
Oh symbol of you
Lay you down in the ground
On a day so blue
And everytime I build you up
You meet somebody new
Oh Statue, Statue of you

Liberty, liberty, liberty
Liberty was my wife
But she was made of stone and bone
But no blood off my life
And I stood her up in the Cemetery
That was my strife
Oh Statue, statue of you

Don't you know art is deadly
And dreams are the stuff of art
They build up these symbols
In the foundation of your heart
And every time you paint them
A piece of you falls apart
Oh painting, painting of you

Waxwork, waxwork, waxwork
Oh waxwork doll
You walk around in facts and talk
Of taxes so droll
Happy with the maximum hurt
Bestowed by the toll
When we cross your bridge
You fine us, like a levy on our soul
Oh waxwork, waxwork of you

Museum, museum, museum
Its amusing to see 'em
There
Hanging in the gallery
In the hall of souls
Under lock and key of the guard
For all eternity
Love, liberty and waxwork
In a house so empty
Yet full of artifacts and objects
So deadly they have killed
All the painters and artists
Who ever shined their skill

So artwork, artwork, artwork
What will it be?
My money or my life said Titian
Said the greats of posterity
And everytime they build you up
They just have to fall
Oh Artwork is so deadly
Hanging on that wall

Synonyms for boring - it's like watching paint dry,

I was dead bored, I've been lulled into a false sense of dull, plain Jane, I've got an urging to do my accounts, somebody pass me the crossword, tomorrow and tomorrow crawls on...in the beginning was the word, before that it was very quiet, don't get up, I'm only passing through, lethargy, a lack of energy snail slow, down to a snail's pace, life's ebb and flow has turned into a dribble, I know somebody famous you know,

In soul

Fog patches rising
Occasionally good
Occasionally very poor
In soul

Easter 1917

Easter in the trenches, the stenches
and the slime
I remember cooking tea
In a tin cup at the time
In the quiet of the truce
I had committed no crime
Only looking for the truth in God's plan
Searching for a brotherhood of man

Searching in the mud
In the pale sky
Searching in the face of the young man
Searching in the biscuit tin of the general
Looking into the soul of the brigadier
And across a barbed wire strewn land
For a brotherhood of man

I went across the boundary line
I went over the top
Over the parapit of hope
Pulled up the bucket of water
From the well on a rope
Staring into the depths of the Colonel's plan
For a brotherhood of man

Wading in the shore water
Running up the beaches
Looking in the crater
And the further reaches
Of the sick Lieutenant's eyes
For a brotherhood of man

Made my way up the gully
With the cannons pointing at me
Collecting the lives of those fallen down
Throwing their ashes to the sea
I called up the king and he held out his hand
Passed me the crown
I said is this the brotherhood of man?

Close number 7

She only loved the writer and poet
Who knows why but I blow it
It was a fast skid kid
It was a rough deal
Under the table
Gamble with men and horses
And forces beyond my control
It was a windscreen of damage
That I flew through
When we crashed our carriage
On the rocky road to marriage

It was a shattered image
That I managed
The reflection that I
Looked into in vain
It was a sky full of people and baggage
All refugees from
The heart land of pain
And I looked out my window
At all the garbage
And I think when you're in love
Nothing ever seems to change

And I need you now in the rows of cabbage
To dig for what I can't explain
Its just an itch I need to scratch
Its just a ravage in the corn and grain
I've been looking for my keys
Lost in my luggage
And you know my heart is locked up in a cage
Ever since I saw you
I have never been the same

Friday 10 April 2020

Don't be a robot tonight

Will the robots kill us?
Don't let them take control
Don't let the money the greed and power
Rob you of your soul

All your cleverness, your logic
You cannot feel
What I feel
You would be human after all
It is a kind of magic
Only we have

You dismiss me like a crab
Discarded on the shore
An empty used up shell
Of the man I was before

But I have these feelings
Swilling in my soul
They move my arms and legs
They lift me on the wave

In my heart I can be brave
It is more than I can say for you
Hiding in your cave brewing up your tea
Well don't shoot the messenger
I've committed no crime
And you've committed none either
Except wasted both our time

I ask you who, who is the robot?
And who the human being
In this, our last day on Earth
Don't you want to feel
That feeling?

How long is your love?

How long is your love

Will it wrap the whole world around?

Will it stretch to the moon

Oh how long is your love?

Will it be the end of the line

Pretty soon?

Is it as long as the river that flows

Oh from the mountains above

Down to the valley below

How long is your love

How much farther to go

How long is your love

Is it as long as a blue moon

Or as long as a red letter day

Will it be gone too soon

Or is your love gonna stay?

Is it long enough to care

Is it too long to bare

Those soft southern hills

Well I've sought and I've plundered

I've lied and I've lamed

In the hills, in the valleys, in towns without name

In the streets of the city so pretty it kills

I left my woman behind at the foot of the hills

I've bought wheat and meat with my feet on the bills

Sought gold of all kinds in the valleys and hills

But I left behind my lady of the lake

To stake my claims was my big mistake

Well ask me one question I'll answer no lies

Was it worth it to live if the price is our lives?

And if it's for gold you will dig

Is it for gold you will die?

In the streets of the city far from the love left behind

Will you buy back your soul with all the money you earn?

Well if it's a claim that you stake

At its stake will you burn

In the streets of the city, so pretty it kills

But nothing compares to those soft southern hills

Saturday 4 April 2020

What does it mean

What does it mean to fall in love?
No angels there singing above
No locksmith's lair
Or mortal snare
To fall in love with you, to dare

Where are the bands? The beating drums?
No fanfare, no angel comes
Just listless air that seems to fight
The very breath of the sweet night

I cannot climb
But I am One
The mountain side is where I run
Away from lies
That hide inside
Oh but what does it mean?
What does it mean?
To fall in love with my own pride

The jagged rocks
And twisted roots
They give a shock
In my pursuit
The ghost of you is on my trail
To love you I cannot fail

But who has won and who has lost
No angel has seen to count the cost
I count my lives on fingers worn
Down to the bone from which I'm born

And you are there
You have seen
But to fall in love
What does it mean?

COVID 19 - The Virus

Here I am -Enter stage left
Back from outer space
(You might have guessed)
But no I am from far closer to home
I am from Mother nature
No ET phone Home
I am already home
This is my play ground
It's been me and the devil, since before you all were around

The fact is you forgot about me
Something buried deep in your collective psyche
An itch you had to scratch and then you opened up the genie
Now he won't go back into his bottle -that's me

You know deep down you wanted this
You know deep down I'm good
I'm giving everyone what they wanted
A break from metal and science
And technology
This is wood
This the human body on the wrack
It is under strain, under attack
It is pulled apart in vain
To look for the soul
Because we lost it some where
Back there, when we gave away control

I am athwart to progress
Because you know progress isn't good
There is pressure
There is impetus
There is the worldwide neighbourhood
And not in my back yard
But now everyone is a neighbour
There is no gerrymandering
No public profiteering or gambling
This is role the dice and come up aces
Or else lose it all, reset the clock
Have egg on all your faces
Because you cannot manage

It is too much for your lives
You are individual cases, but in your nervous system I will survive
I am the psychic phantom of all your imagined
Fears
The phantom of the Opera
The last music in your eyes
And the last note to be struck
By the chiming bell
When they toll for the dead
You know I am doing well

Well, well the other choice is live in a world
At times a living  hell
For some it will be a relief
They are old, can't you tell
But I also take the young one's too
I am a humanitarian
I see everyone as equal
There is democratic decision making
I'm not like some kind of crazy terrorist cell
Which by the way my presence seems mysteriously
To have quelled

I am a bigger threat
I am a government of one
I rule not in net
But in the Genetic details of everyone
I unite you all in your susceptibility to my spell
Like a master magician
I know my audience well
I pick out my victim from the crowd
Work my hypnosis
He gets drowsy, pliable unproud
Then I bend him to my will
It is a mind control
Touching other bodies, like king Midas
Now I'm being droll
So the golden seal is passed on
And like a sunset I shine
And my sun will rule the live long day
Until my sun goes down

I will say for my brothers SARS and Mers
Like the four horsemen of the Apocalypse
They too made it theirs
There was Pestilence and Famine, Plague and War
And we all came to walk among them
Without a cure
But if you want to know the problem,
Then look inside yourselves
There is usually a psychic cause
For every affliction
Mine, his, hers or yours

COVID 18- The Lorry Driver

I am in haulage
Lorries, lorries
Just in time
My wife tells me I'm a hero
I hardly ever see her
I named my truck after her
That was in the old days

When trucks were allowed to be named after ladies

Nowadays we hit the road
And never return
We can be gone for weeks
Not just days
Driving over deserts, along ravines
Through Marco Polo's Silk Road
If you know what I mean

This is big business man
The world is getting small
Faster, smarter
There is no let up at all

We are all racing like machines after the foot fall
Of the customers who keep going in the shops demanding what they've seen
On you tube, or TV
I want, I want, I want more and more
We in deliveries have to take em all
Ship them
You've got your TV's from China,
Your Spices from Turkey
Your Fresh Pasta from Italy
Fish from New Zealand
Clothes from Taiwan or Bangladesh
Its no wonder this whole systems in a mess

But what makes me laugh the most
Is while everyone else is on lock down
We hauliers own the road
Its the best driving I've seen for years
Except that it until we hit country borders
Whose gonna let you through?
When you're from a hotspot, no then we're in quarantine

But the food supply must flow
Those people keep on buying, spending
Their dwindling savings
Buying up more food than they will ever eat
That pushes up demand, and so now
Supermarkets have the upper hand
They need this stuff
They can't let the customers down

So even now
It is more, more more
No one ever learns their lesson
The world can't cope anymore
I mean I'm glad I'm working
But let's put on the brakes
The pace is accelerating
We are making mistakes
No one is thinking about what or How
They are doing
And for sure, they never ask Why?
And Why don't we grow things in our own country anymore
Why do we want so much from elsewhere?
This Globalization nervous breakdown
Should be our wake up call

COVID 17-The Lover

It was more than I could do
Not to fall in love with you
In the middle of a pandemic crisis
But you see you just swished your wand
And in a moment I was gone under your spell

Oh darling don't you know
I'd cross the desert for you
Sail over the Bering straits
March over bridges til it gets late
Under cover
After hours under curfew

While I am feeling blue
It's been so long since I kissed you
And I miss the touch of your flesh
The softness of your skin
The way you smile
And your bright eye like nothing
Ever bothered you

But we can't, we shan't you say
I shall, I pall, I bray
I pace the floor like a tiger in a cage
Like all heaven's in a rage
To quote a sage
I must see you now
Put down the receiver
Take a bow
And let me exit centre stage

Left,
What's left?
You refuse my calls
You refuse to use this virus as a
pause
It is a suitable cut off
An isolated situation
Perfect independence
No dependence on anyone

and I have been lying to myself again
I have been fooling myself into thinking
That the perfect world exists
This virus is just pathos
This world is bathos and chaos
And decay
From the inside
And this love is just an
Illusion of a union between two twins
Two towns that will be forever apart
Divided by a river that cuts through their heart
Like a knife
Pest on the left
Buda on the right
And this night
There is nothing
All is bereft
No bridges are working
They are down
The sirens are calling
In the wrong part of town

And I have no way back over that river

COVID 16 - The dead body

I'm one of the departed
I lay here on this trolley
They've brought me down here to the Morgue
They are treating me so carefully
Nobody is coming near me
I want to cry out what are you all waiting for

Of course I'm not really in there, its just a shell
Just a carcass
But I got used to my dimensions
Now I'm ten feet off the floor
I can't seem to leave, something is keeping me anchored
I think I need my family to release me

But when I see them coming through the swinging door
My daughter is there crying
She reaches out, but staff are pulling her back
They implore
Her to restrain her feelings, her need to touch my face
To kiss me and say good bye to her mummy
And my husband is there sobbing, he's trying
To stay strong for her, But I can see his eyes breaking
And his face is imploding in the shock of devastation

I just wish we had some warning, it seemed to come out of nowhere
I mean the neighbour hood we live in isn't very poor,
But still I have this spirit sense that its the same around
The world
In the slums people are dying, there is no place for a family's crying
They are quickly burning the body behind a cast iron door

And I know there will be no funeral for me,
Too many bodies
The risk of infection is too great
They may take me outside the city limits
To a make shift crematorium
To a charnel house of the infected departed
No one is allowed to visit or to mourn

We will be the lost generation
Gone before our time was called
It was not right
But was it asked for?
Did we deserve this? No as individuals it makes no sense
But as a society I want to ask
I want to ask God even more
But I shan't be able to leave
Until my family let me go
One touch will be enough my love
But ah I know...

COVID 15 - The Worker

I'm a worker,
They've closed the factory
I went in this morning
And the shift ended at three
I have a zero hour contract
Nothing for me to do
You get nothing for nothing
No lunch is free
I wonder what I'm going to say to my wfe when I get home
Honey I lost job, well will I end up on my own
And I have a family to support
Yes Universal credit, well its fine if you can get it
It take six weeks just to get it
And I have mouths to feed
You don't by on nothing
Nothing but poverty
That is looking at an empty fridge
And having kids screaming for their tea

You know I never thought it was much
This job down rows and rows
Stcks and stacks of shoes
Convey belts endless days, abuse
But there were my colleagues
And we had a laugh
I donno what half of them will be doing now
Oh sure there were the lucky ones the full timers
The crows, the ones who cling on until retirement
This factory floor is all they know
But you know it ain't simple
And you know it ain't fair
Nobody has been offering full time contracts for years over there
There is always cheaper workers
They can bring in from abroad
Or if not that then it will be the robots
Who can man the factory floor

Man - man -what a word
I don't feel like a man anymore
You take away his work what is he good for?
You take away his chance to earn, keep his dignity
It should be against the law
But they're making these amendments, special measures
Passing bills, they are taking away our life blood our right
To live is what they kill
It isn't in the spirit of the constitution
To say a man ain't allowed to work
To provide for the family institution
It isn't like the unions have any power anymore
But still we have to fight for our right
Before they kick shut the door

The power ain't with the worker
It's with the man in power
It's with the managers and fat controllers of operations
The worker is dysfunctional, he has feelings that aren't logical
And a robot can do his job faster with no complaining at all
I worry for the future even when this all blows over, how many factories and warehouses will
Realise they can't rely on human labour and will install
Instead the mechanical slave time savers
Then when we go back it will be on the unemployment lines
For sure

Love is

Love is just a freedom
Love is just a bird
Love is a reason
For making up a word
Love is you and bleeding
Love is what you've heard
Love is every single expression
You have ever learned

Love is in an alley way
Love is blinded by the light
Love is out of my way
Love is out of sight
Love is on the free way
Being waved down by the law
Love is are you going my way
And why don't you love me anymore

Love is in the shingles, in the beach and on the rocks
Love is surviving ship wrecks, pursuits and electric shocks
Love is all the stupid things that you will try to do
Love is trying be someone you're not
To keep them loving you
Love is all the lying all the twisted sworded games
Love is when your hairs alight and no one's there to douse the flames
Love is being mocked by the joker now in chains
Love is being locked in a prison with its name

Love is shooting stars, its shooting fish in a barrel
Love is driving cars through people singing carols
Love is all the brakes dropped off when you're rolling down a hill
Love is what you should have done, if you had time enough to kill
Love is talking backwards the mirage in the sun
Love walking up to the point of the woman with the gun
Love is getting shot and its coming back to life
Love is waking up every morning with your wife

Love is spoiling lettuces, its measels in the factory
Love is serving sentences for the crimes against humanity
Love is doing time for all the wars lost
Love is drawing short straws on loves true cost
Love is noting down the time of the crime
Drawing round the body, with bloody line
Love is making safe the streets
So love can walk and pine
Over each and every man he meets
And woman in her prime
Love is shaking everybody, like an earthquake from below
Love is the boxer on the ropes reeling from the blow
Love is walking on the street with the black widow
Giving her your seat on the bus back home
