Running to the end of the rainbow

Well I run to the end of the rainbow

I run through the day and the night

I run from beginning to the end although

She could put out her light

I run through the many colours, through

Yellow, and blue, green and red

And they take me up to the top of the hill

Then the colours run through my head

And I've been running til the end of the rainbow

I've got to keep the pot of gold in mind

But the further I run the further I am

From the goal I first set out to find

Yet I keep running to the end of the rainbow

Until I reach that promised land

Where there is milk and honey and green pastures

The grass is always greener on the other hand

I keep running to the end of the rainbow

Running from the thoughts I've left behind

I'm running somewhere new, where the sky is so blue

And where people will seek me but never find

So I'm running to the end of the rainbow

Will it be like it was before?

When the rain clouds break, it rains on my all my mistakes

Can I run fast enough, I'm never sure

And then I saw a rainbow

I was down on my luck

I thought I was a goner

I was going down hill

Like a runaway truck

I took out my dollar bill

And looked through the honour

Just then I saw a rainbow

And the sun shone through

The fires on the mountain were smoking

The smoke clouds blocking my vision

And the in and out of the country scout

Burned my ears with his joking

I sunk down on my knees in derision

I thought it all was doom and gloom

And then I saw a rainbow

And the sun shone through

Rainbow

 Now you see me,

The birds have flown

And I can see the blue dome

Up above the clouds so high

Like a rainbow in the sky

And crows are flying to the boughs

To find shelter from rain sloughs

And all the fresh fish of cuttle shore

Are raining now on my front door

I asked you once I asked you twice

If this was our earthly paradise

But you said boy

Why must you be coy

Perfection is a reflection

Of inner joy

But imperfection

Is the sign of inner peace

So try to accept what has been given

And let your suffering cease

And the rainbow comes out

Shoots under the weather cock

Like a scarf around the neck

Of St Thomas' Church steeple

All the bold bally insects

Go buzzing in the sun

And the men and women are free again

And the birds start to chirrup again

As they know the rain clouds

Are on the run
