Lifestyle

As I am lying on the floor

I wonder what is more

What is real, what is fake

In this string of give and take

Is all my life just an illusion?

Buy a house and settle down

Move into a nicer part of town

Follow streams and follow flows

Follow the river where it goes

But have a base, have a home

Unless you remain a rolling stone

And even then a line is crossed

Every time you're found and lost

Picked up, thrown to another home

Into the four winds tossed

Life is an illusion

but then we need four walls

To make a full union

Or else all turns sour

Like slaves we cower

From the master's hand that falls

Show us then the real friend

Who will stand by us until the end

Do you hear what I'm saying?

The way that it is
Is this inability to communicate
There is no way that this is
Something that we need
To do this

We don't need to do this
This is the sore
The wound
To scratch and all the mirrors
Are cracked

Are the truths of
Tragedy
And dumbing down the boiling
Rage of passing
Out the plague of houses
And brown nosing
And blood baths
And calamity of ages

Shame is this point
Where they don't listen
Or don't hear
And he doesn't say
And he won't
And there is no understanding
Because men have to know
They need answers for everything

Yoyo
The four transformations
Of killing yourself
To be able to understand

Bed of roses

Life it ain't no bed of roses

Sometimes can be like a bed of thorns

Indeed when your love rejects your poesies

Then you can wish you'd never been born

But someday those thorns will grow back roses

And from the ashes will be a bed of straw

Then the lions will lie down with the asses

And the lamb and lady will come once more

A million miles ahead

Hoopers ahead, a whole world behind

I'm telling you girl, I feel fine

Shooting fish in the barrel with a wooden leg

I've got miles ahead and left a whole world behind

There ain't no use in worrying today

There's no use scraping the bottom of the barrel

If you want to make an omelette you've gotta break some eggs

Got a million miles ahead and left a whole world behind

I left a whole world behind boys, a whole darn world behind

going to try to build a better world tomorrow

you know it's written on my bed, you can sleep when you're dead

Don't get too hung up on all your sorrow

And even if you steal, beg or borrow

You've still got a million miles ahead, left a whole world behind

And you can build a better world tomorrow

Hard lives

 Hard lives, hard lives,

Hard lives in the private eye

Can't disguise hard lives

Hard lives in the private eye

Out of focus, hocus pocus

Hard lives going round the bend

Hard lives, hard lives

Hard lives of some good friends

Whose lives, your lives?

Our lives living til the end

Hard lives, short dives

Short dives off the dive board end

don't give up

Don't give up
For you are loved
Across the plain, the field

Don't give up
Lift on wings of a dove
Its just the way that you feel

These wheels keep on turning
The seasons keep returning
The world resolves
And our problems are solved
By day turning into dark
From the dark you must come out into light

Don't give up
Every breath must be a fight
Every day a struggle against death
Tell death to fuck off
Don't give up
Don't give up

All things pass
The summer wine
In the glass
Soon must be supped
But cast your net
Feel the sea sway
Hold tight the mast
In the storm
The new day will bring
Peace of mind

Mid stream

 If you need anything

Let me know

I need a fish head

I need the legs

To walk on water

Like an Ariel

I need a chance

Heads or tails

Open mouth of whale

Swallowing up a Jonah

I need a fishmonger

Market stall

For sale or rent

My suit of scales

Cheques and balances

I need a spout

I need a fluke

Over the moon

I had a whale of a time

Turning on a dime

I went down to the river bank

And cast my line

I asked the water for some message

I hadn't heard of mine

A fish it jumped

Its tail thumped

Upon the bank it pined

I threw it back

Into the sump

Of blackness and of slime

But far below

The river did flow

Like a life in its prime

What waste to catch a rotten fish

When other fresh waters wind

And I may walk to other rivers

That will give me back my time

Living fuck

Can you make the song bird sing

In the early evening

Can you joke that it's not spring

While the season's turning?

Are you free or are you chained

While the maze of amazing rain

Comes spiralling down upon your brain

Oh tell me what is living?

Are you free to live

Then why not start to give

To your fellow human beings

They aren't blind to what they're seeing

Have the doves of the cot not flown

Out into the storm

Have the wily cocks of home

Not been kept in safe and warm

What of beauty

What of kings

What of all these kinds of things

And what you take

And what life brings

What is it you are finding?

Li-fi

 In life

Do not spend too long on the ordination of spiders

For they have their own legs

And they will carry them

Try not to be fooled by earwigs

For they may get in your ear and whisper many things

Memory is a wonderful thing when founded on common sense

Otherwise try to forget it

The meaning of moths can only be had in daylight

At night they can really elude you

Do not talk too fast nor too slow

For doing either will upset google translate

The best remedy for a cold is not to catch it in the first place

Kings and Queens may come and go, but the monarchy is forever!

Until it's not.

Gargling can increase your life chances by 50% if stuck under water.

Too many cooks spoil the broth, but only if you don't chop them up enough first.

The large stone platform in the world is positioned about Milton Keynes

The thing is nobody gets a chance to look up, and no one wants to look down,

They just keep on going around and around.

Marathon Man

 Hello, is that the marathons?

Yes,

Oh great, I'd like to join you

Well we'd be very pleased to have you. But you've phoned up our help line, so how can we help?

Oh a while ago now I tried to start running

That's great, but are you having suicidal thoughts?

Well sometimes when I'm running

I want to run in front of a truck

Well, you are doing the right thing by phoning us up

and trying to get some exercise

Yes well, for a long time I didn't know you

had a telephone number?

Oh how did you hear about us?

Well I was feeling depressed one day

And someone said I should talk to the 'Marathons'

Uhhuh!

Yes, I figured I better get fit and join the local running team

So you did?

Yes I used to do the Park run every Saturday and then I built

myself up until I could manage a half marathon

Wow, well done you!

Thanks...so when I was there I would really try to talk to the Marathons

about how I was feeling.. you know telling them I was depressed

And what happened?

Well they kept running even faster to try to get away from me!

Amazing

Yes, and so then I would run even faster to try to keep up...I actually broke my own personal best

as did many other runners on that day

I was feeling so good about myself, but still I had this niggling thought

This wasn't quite the full marathon

So Anyway then I joined the London marathon, then New York, Sydney, Nepal

Each time I trying to speak with the marathons, and they really helped me

You know I'velost  pounds of weight, I am fitter than I've ever been

I keep to a strict exercise regime

Well what a fantastic story

So what I wanted to do was thank you personally Mr Marathon for helping me so much

Well, that is really very kind of you as you see we are the Samaritans

Not the marathons?

No the Samaritans, but I'm sure some us are Samaritan runners

Tired

The dog is rising to the moon

The silver ships they leave too soon

Children cry and laugh

And Seagulls do the same

While I am taking a bath

As I try to remember my name

Friday 10 March 2023

King for a day

What if we were kings just for a day

24 hours on a king's pay

They'd do anything, anything that we say

If we were kings, just for a day

just for a day

Red town

 Oh the skeleton traffic lights

Burn through the night

And I wish I could tell you I'm born

Born in a green town

And Die in a red

But I'm stuck on amber in my head

Oh the Bunsen burners

Light up the lab

Like the rigs in the cold North Sea

And I'm on a ship and I'm waving my flag

It is white for all souls to see

Don't make a mystery out of a fact

Don't turn the red light green

Before your history has been written in an act

Of pure white dishonesty's gleam

Shine out the fortesque, shine round the bend

Shine on your street lamp parade

For the bones of the dead street

Still hold sway on the ghost ship

As the Ocean cries hush to the waves

And the bin men come out

And they rattle about

bottles go clinkety clink

The indicators flash, in a cold hard dash

Like shire horses blinking at graves

I was born in a green town

Where the monkeys play

And the tin men follow their dreams

And the red light of day

Falls a lonely gloom on the streams

And I'm in a red dawn down at the bay

A patchwork eden

 The women are washing curtains

And cutting out new shapes

Keeping out the cold

Until they make their great escapes

And I am in my room with

A scarf around my nape

Looking at the gloom with

A roll of sticky tape

Can I patch up my windows

Can I make a patch work quilt

And sew my images of Eden

Into everything I make?

A patchwork paradise made up

Of my own mistakes

A blanket to wrap myself in

When the cold comes

When it threatens my life to take

And are these memories just a childhood fantasy

Or like Joseph and his dream coat

Will my dreams trump my mistakes?

I have to believe in the power of dreaming

And I'll sleep on it,

Under cover of life's roadmap I make

This thing has wheels

This thing has wheels and it will fly

Take it for a spin

Hitting over drive

There's nothing to lose or win

Only you've got to stay alive

In this thing with wheels

Come on and survive

It is over it is under

The fast road racing

Through tunnels

Under bridges

The scenery displacing

And time shifts its gaze

Until we realize

This thing has wheels

And we are on a ride

The bread of life

you can't give, more than you've

got

And you've got to live inside the slot

And life's a sieve

And the flour is hot

And it falls through the holes

In little spots

And you can't give more than you've got

So come on and fill up my cup

Oh you can't bake

If you shake the pot

Oh the cake won't rise

If the oven's not hot

And Life's a sieve

And time's flour is not

So let it fall through

And make your dough

And roll it around

be you fast or slow

So come on and fill up my cup

Oh bake your bread

Until it is hot

And the yeast is rising

Inside your pot

And life is to give

But take when it's not

So sit down and share it with me

Life will do you in

 Life will do you in

Every last little sin

That you can't be without

That you can't be within

Every laughing lout

In the Tavern inn

Life will do you in

Hear the postman shout

A letter for Miss Gin

Are you in or are you out

He's no doubt

That she is in

Life will do you in

The comedy of it all

 It could always be worse

That's just the luck of the draw

It's the roll of the hearse

As it pulls up at your door

Ironic of course

But who says comedy is poor

Rich as a beggar in a grave by the shore

Lay me down in the sand

I don't want anymore

I'm too dog tired to stand

And I hurt to my core

Give me a leg up or lend me a hand

I'm run out of egg cups

And my soldier understands

You can't be a saint if you aint

You can't be sinner and live on paint thinner

Just get fat on the wages of a cat

effle tower

Oh see the rocks from the high ups fall

They've climbed so high above it all

They toss down stones like they're the gods

If the shoe were on the other foot

Would they know how they've been shod?

For do we walk in the shoes we've been given since birth/

Is there only one path to tread on this fine earth?

From cradle to the grave, you must know what life is worth

Don't spare the gravy on the main course

For you may be left with only sloppy seconds

You never know, where your next meal is coming from

And you cannot be complacent without a silver spoon

Though you can try to eat the star dust that falls from the moon

You'll be hungry as well so take a side door out

If you can't win at the system, you must try to shout

And if playing and yelling doesn't get you anywhere

They you better believe you must escape the dragon's lair

Still there is more to it than that

Why deny the obvious fact

That some will follow rule and command

Do the bidding of the high ups

And as in a chain, They will pull themselves up

Hand over hand until they're at the top

And then....

Life after death
