Storm Anon

 A- wailing seven witches go

3 pigeons step toe to toe

Temerity speaks their chattering beaks

And one magpie in the hedgerow

Dark sweltering blue cumulonimbus

Sweating heavy with sadness

Troubling winds tremble the saplings

Straight-backed they heroically struggle

Flexing lampposts tapping windows

rattled ravens, jackdaws fly off with crows

Backdoors swing open, as welcoming

A thunder god, come in tormentor, it says

To kitchen, come dishelve the dish shelves

Creaking ironwork of barns

Stand hollow and empty to new harms

Hills hollow howling through tunnels and caves

Wild winds over tame, trammeled graves

Only bones dry, freezing in shackles

Chained now to the earth, love saves

The day

Written in bold the blunderbuss wind gust

blows away roof from frame

Exposed now tool jewels to the baptising rain

Cain on a crane, and Herod on a hook

Come swinging their murderous looks

In the eye of the pain

Oh to numb the pain

The elemental refrain

Of the wind

It's monosyllabic yawl

And cry again and again

Some beast awoken we had best let sleep

But we were not looking

We had stopped looking so deep

That our souls were in this pain

This universal trap which we all feel

But cannot name

And no name, no name comes up again

When we all run and hide

From ourselves

Anonymous blows the windy storm

Though we try to name it

No name seems to fit

River wriggle

Tears in the river
The bells in Hell
The arrows in the quiver
And the cats down the well
The weather follows the cock's tail
And Captain Ahab hunts down the whale

I have seen you in the fire's shadows
That dance upon the wall
And in the clouds of a rivers shallows
Where the tadpoles wriggle and crawl

weather holidays

It was discovered in the future the reason for poor weather on bank holidays and weekends was that our working behaviour directly affected the weather

And that the Gods were unhappy when we took holidays

Weathering the storm

Can you hear the gushing sound

Coming down the roads

The water babies on their bellies

With the frogs and toads

Flowing over grey stone walls

Filling up the gardens

We've thrown down all our cement bags

Now the bloody things won't harden

Out we dash with broom and bucket

sweeping back the waters

Then we lose the broom and think

This preparation doesn't cut it

what was it they taught us?

But who knew it would be this bad?

Who knew really what would happen

If the farmers take down trees and plough

Then surely water will start lappin

At your door and at mine although

You may live at the bottom of the valley

Of course we all know where the river will flow

It's just whether the river will sally

But one thing's for sure, we sure lend a hand

To help out others in need

Give them your arms and legs, hold a wheelie bin

Before it floats off down the street

But there's no need to play the blame game is there?

These things are just acts of God

Except surely we can mitigate against them

By not replacing forests with fields of sod?

Perhaps why not create some catchment ponds

That way it can slow down the water's flow

Some flooded fields further up would help bond

And allay the more tragic affects down below

Some kind of agricultural plan must be thought up

To prevent this ever happening again

It was like this ten years ago when the levels were caught up

Because the rhynes wouldn't properly drain

Why hasn't the environmental agency had

a more stringent program of maintenance

Then we might have a case of Neptune's Staircase

Rather than a torrent, a deluge of complainants

Let's try and deepen the River Sheppey

Make it deeper and broader

I'm sure the army of James Heappey

Would be more than happy

To carry out the order

Cold snap whip lash

The clocks are striking on the hour
For what I've done I've no word power
To put pen to feeble page
The last good men have left the stage

And in their stead are Angels standing
And Ghosts of those of understanding
And piercing through quick silver fog
Their ideas like arrows fell the hog

We all are currents in the ocean
Sometimes swelling with emotion
Sometimes drowning being pulled down
By forces created by Neptune's crown

And linking now more than ever
The tides are turning like the weather
A cold snap lashes inside like terror
But warm blood flows under skin of leather

Sure enough they stopped him
Before it was too late
The openers out trumped him
Outside the pearly gate
And he could not get in
Nor could he climb the wall
Only stand appraisin
While paradise did fall

Only stand appraisin'
While paradise did fall

Cold winds of March

Cold winds in March, you know how I feel

Cold winds in March, nothing seems real

Leaves on the trees all blown away

Catkins are growing but there are no buds of May

Snow drops on the ground yes they are real

But the branches I found, their bark does peel

All winter I know, feels like snow

Cold winds in March continue to blow

Dead leaves on the ground, this is all I've found

Cold winds in March blow all around,

Lean on the arch, look into the garden

See how your garden grows

Frost flowers harden, leaves covered in snow

Where did our love, where did our love go?

Lost in the Marsh, where the cold winds blow

The cold winds of March that we all know

Cold winds of March are filling the tower

Where the seamstress sits sews hour onto hour

Losing the thread, somehow she still sews

Those cold winds of March that we must all know

Small Talk

 What's the weather like?

What's the weather like?

How you doing?

What's the weather?

I bought a new car,

No you didn't

Yeah I bought a new car

It's a Nissan

No you didn't

Yes I did

What's it like then?

Quite good.

How's your cat?

Yeah she's well

How's your cat?

Yeah I just said she's swell

No you said she's well.

Yeah and what's your problem?

Well that's no kind of answer... for a cat!

I mean she could be better I suppose, she seems pretty happy

all in all, she sleeps a lot.. Look, why so many questions?

It's called small talk

Oh cool, I'm down with that..

Are you? Because you don't seem that good at it?

I just need practice that's all.

Ask me something then?

How's the family?

Oh yeah, they're fine

That's nice.

Yeah it is, look what time does this meeting start?

5 minutes.

Oh God 5 minutes, look sorry I've got to go and make a cuppa, I'll be back.

Sure, no problem, leave me just like that.

Look we're just chatting, aren't we?

No we're making small talk, nothing's more important than that!

Oh I see, I didn't realize you felt like that about it.

Well I do.

Ok I won't leave you pal, no worries.

Ok thanks.

How's the weather there then?

Look sorry I've a call on the other line, I'll call you back.

Ok no worries, see you later.

Yeah, uh huh...

Seriously grave matter

They nearly put me in my grave

I was an archaeologist working in Italy

On an ancient burial ground

The sky turned black

And I was on my back

Just another piece of lost and found

Searching for a body

Anybody down there

Shake my hand

The weather's grand

Living without a care

Dying to get out tonight

You can't go out when you're dead

Looking for some kind of light

Trying to straighten out my head

Pathetic fallacy

 Oh what a pathetic fallacy

They said the day would never come

That climate change fiction

Had us under its thumb

But I don't need a weatherman

To tell me when to run

Oh what a pathetic fallacy

They said it was true

But then I felt blue

Under the oppressive rain clouds which drew

Like a curtain across the sky

Like in the theatre when the play is done

Oh what a pathetic fallacy

They Said cheer up chum it may never happen

When the lightning was flashing and the thunder a-clappin'

And my thought's they turned mad like when Hamlet lost his dad

Oh what a pathetic fallacy

Then in the desert like heats that came

I was wont to remember even my own name

Quick to anger and he was the same

Who pointed to the wilting crops and cried

Who's to blame?

Oh what a pathetic fallacy

So was it true or was it false?

Well the evidence of change has revealed itself

And fact or fiction, we prick and bleed

The dream is real, we feel and need

The time is running out

And the sun it is a setting

On a day that seemed to last

Forever for forgetting

With four seasons and four walls

Fortitude and forty falls

Of the human who came from Eden

Oh what a pathetic fallacy

lightning

I remember watching the lightning strike over the blocks

Of flats in Veszprém

While smoking my pipe standing in my shorts

On your balcony

I was happy then with you

Why does love never seem to work out

Always going in different directions

Like water streams

choosing their own courses

You can't ever predict what two people will do

And love strikes you

Like a bolt from the blue

When you are sitting in a Scottish lodge

reading your poetry to a group of strangers

And one person in the group

Is listening to you

Mighty Night

 Guaranteed chaos

A cocktail of lies

Misinterpretation

On a grand scale

The tale of the dragon flies

wreaking rack and ruin

The combination of trash

and nations, who throw their waste

Into their neighbour's gardens

While our trees were being blown over

By Storm Eunice, Dudley and Franklin

A far bigger storm was brewing over Ukraine

As Russia readied itself for war

Hiding its intention behind

Barely veiled lies

And smoke and mirror tactics

Only the sleeping West and central Europe

Whose population has been prepared for this ally

With Russia

For Hungary will want their country back

To expand their borders is what Orban wants

This is his dream come true

With one hand dealing with the West

While under the table

Shaking hands with Russia

Letting the enemy in at the gates

Nothing is new

And we have seen it all before

Well the pendulum swings from West to East

From left to right

And we find ourselves at war

It was always going to happen

It was the gathering storm

The weakness of a complacent Europe

Too happy and comfortable in their freedoms

Too ready to ignore the signs

And the strengthening of Russia

The Soviet Block

Will be putting back up its iron wall

Rock by bloody rock

StormZ

List of named storms (Z)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Storms are named for historical reasons to avoid confusion when communicating with the public, as more than one storm can exist at a time. Names are drawn in order from predetermined lists. For tropical cyclones, names are assigned when a system has one-, three-, or ten-minute winds of more than 65 km/h (40 mph). Standards, however, vary from basin to basin. For example, some tropical depressions are named in the Western Pacific, while within the Australian and Southern Pacific regions, the naming of tropical cyclones are delayed until they have gale-force winds occurring more than halfway around the storm center.

This list covers the letter Z .
