I try

I tried to meet you in the street

Oh I tried to beat it with my feet

I tried to stop but I repeat

Oh I tried, how I tried

I tried to love you in the chair

I tried to love and show I care

I tried to hug you like a bear

I tried, oh lord how I tried

I tried to sing a song so sweet

One where love was something to eat

And we had been so hungry

Until we did meet

Oh I tried, how I tried

And in the fall, in the grey air

That calls back hope and raises despair

I fall like snow and melt like sleet

That shawls on shoulders kindly greet

I tried, oh I tried

But all this disappears like summer

I saw the last butterfly today

It thought only of summer haze

And danced it's light flight on the days

As winter marches to the beat

Of the yearly drummer
