17 Elderflower street

 In the aftermath of sorrow

I heard the bluebird call

You will live again tomorrow

And learn in a new school

How can I borrow The green

From the trees

How can I learn to love

This land of miseries

Why must I shift my heart

Each time on downhill skis

Faster, going faster still

Into the maddening seas

Wishing I had a calm path

One not of trouble but of ease

Why must the light be balanced by the dark

The open field with the shadow's leas
