Too close for comfort

 A little too close

Just a little too close

Just a little too close for comfort

Well I tried to love you

Tried too hard then too soft

I tried to be your guard

But then I ran off

I tried to let you be

But you say I don't love enough

Well I was a little too close

Just a little too close

A little too close for comfort

The wild cat snarled

And the wild wind blew

The mountain was scarred

To a different hue

And our love jarred

In the doorway of blue

We were a little too close

Just a little too close

Only a little too close for comfort

I thought I owed you a living

You thought you owed me a life

Well I would have loved to have been giving

I'd love to have made you my wife

But it was like a volcanoe brewing

It was like walking the edge of a knife

And as I fell down the well of wishing

I only wish it had taken my life.

it all the way through

And the mine shafts were blown to pieces

And it was me who lit the fuse

Well I was a little too close,

Just a little too close

A little too close for comfort.
