The harder they come

 I was on the up

I was ready to fly

I was so hung up

And left out to dry

But I sure messed up didn't I

Well the harder they come

The harder they fall

I was all used up

On a dirty road

Far from the sump

Of the motherload

The gold was dark

And the dark turned cold

But the harder they come

The harder they fall

So slew me now

So that I may die

But be quick with your draw

Mind that stick in your eye

You know they'll make you turn

Or they'll watch you burn

But all you can do

Is die or learn

So the harder they come

The harder they fall

Just like that rock

High up on the wall

The harder they come

The harder they fall

And it could be a boy

Or it could be a girl

But the harder they come

The harder they fall

You could be a pebble

Upon the shore

When the tide comes

up you're gonna roll for sure

Because the harder they come

The harder they fall

And how many are there

Who could answer your call

When the lights go down

And the curtains draw

The harder they come

The harder they fall

And some nights are hard

Too hard for sure

When there's no shoulder to cry on

Except the shadow on the wall

The harder they come

The harder they fall

Don't make up your make-up

Before your tears start to stall

I won't believe your eyes

Before you believe yours

The harder they come

The harder they fall
