Glossary of unusual terms no. 1

Template - when it should be warmer than it is by now

The call of the wild

They say that time's a healer
And that you will walk in liberty
But I know I cannot hear ya
quite so perfectly

As I wallow in the swamps
And the lowlands of the free
The high hills and the humps
Show me the way to the sea

Oh why can't you hold your horses
Or rein in the deer from the field
I'll be with you down river courses
You will hear the call of the wild

So perfectly

So perfectly

Each Salmon swims up river
Back to the place they were born
Well I was born in that small town
Where the wind blows over the corn

And I hear my name called aloud
I can hear the mission bells
For all those fighting in the sounds
Like an echo down distant well

And I come back like an animal
All instinct, imperfectly
Don't go home like a child
When you hear the call of the wild

So perfectly

So perfectly

Romeo at stake

Re-write Romeo and Juliet set in Coronavirus times

What would you say to Romeo if he asked you to go out
When you were on your balcony
But you couldn't go, you had to shout:

Romeo, Romeo where is your mask?

-I sold it, I forgot it, oh why do you ask?

Well I would never kiss a one such as you
Who might give me the plague
With his tongue turned blue

-Oh don't be silly child
This plague is but a trifle
Just a little cold, nothing to stifle
Our love affair of two hearts such as ours
Which are lions of passion and Art writ large

Now I don't want to be the first one to call
For tolerance and temperance
But the writing's on the wall
You should not even be out on the streets this late
Its way past the curfew nevermind love nor hate

-Oh my lady of largess, who commands my heart
Set my fleets rolling, you know they do start
And now you wish to turn them away
At your window bay, let them in your harbour
My good seamen will pay

I like not the cut of your jib, you fib, good sir
You fib, yes you fib, fib, fib
You would say you love me for my heart
But what you really want is my money
Oh you men are all alike
Show you a stocking and you come over all funny

I need to know

I need to know if you love me
I need to know if you care
I need to know if your doves are free
To fly off into the air

I need to know if you use me
I need to know if you dare
I need to know if you colour me
Like you dye your very own hair

I need to know how many there are
I need to know the score
I need to count a penny a car
For every time that you walk out the door

I need to know the margin
I need to know your line
In need to know I'm not arguin'
Wasting each other's time

I need to know the truth
I need to know the lie
I need to be given some proof
And it has got to fly

I need to know the cut to make
Before I hold the knife
I need to know if it is a mistake
To stop the blood to this life

I need to know the blade
I need to know the other side
I need to know how you made
Your very own paradise

I need to feel the weight
I need you to give me the price
Of all the things that hang on the fate
Of this our sacrifice

I need to know the letter
I need to know the law
I need to know you better
Much better than before

I need to know the business
I need to know the rhyme
I need to know if its kismet
Or if it is the century's greatest crime

I need to know your intentions
Before I reveal you mine
I need to know your contention
Then I can be content to follow your line

Let's put our heads together

Let's put our heads together you and I
We can work it out if we really try
We get to be the detectives, we can be the spies

Two heads are better than one
If you can see it running then I can see it run
You take the steering wheel, I'll put the brakes on
No one can hurt us, we are going, going gone
Let's put our heads together you and I

I wish I could say just how it will turn out
You are right from your side, I am right from mine
The biggest of our problems comes from where we draw the line
Let's put our heads together you and I

I've seen the sun through a looking glass
You've been looking through the rain
I've leant my weight on green, green grass
And its left on you a stain
I think that we can make it, I think we can regain
of the river that has passed, and cross it just the same
Let's put our heads together you and I

Ode to an invisible duck

O duck where art thou
Thou nimble winged beastie
Art thou hiding in the undergrowth
Or flown for a feastie?
What does it mean
All this natural desire?

Oh invisible duck I see no more your power
I hear no more you
Pronounce quack
As if passing judgement
Upon all that runs off your back
Or softly preening
Like a princess screening
Herself for an unveiling
At a debutants ball
Oh where are you? You April fool?

Sway

He used her up
Drank her cup
Now she’s a dried up vessel
One vein too blue
One more cell to chew
He ate her brain, who knew

But now she is free
And he, he
He is the Zombie father
The step in the grain
That makes the plane
Jump when we shave the wood farther

He, he is the bitter root
Of rivalry
That keeps the bitter lemon tree
Growing
That leaves all grandmothers
Sucking lemons
Selling eggs and bacons
That leaves the chickens in the gardens
And the cold wind that hardens
The apples that sway
She sees them like she did
When she was a child
And he is her father who has broken his promises
And let the butterflies out of her enclosure
Like kissing lips
They part and fly away
